Studio Parasite

Problem: An artist, writer and designer by the name of Aria Dean is hosting an exhibition and would like a poster designed to promote her exhibition.

Target Audience: The demographic of people for this show are between 18-26 years of age and dominantly minorities. The younger cohort of this demographic would be heading towards fine arts or creative fields while the older cohort holds occupations in these fields.

Solution: Designing a poster based on Aria Dean’s view of “Blackness” or African American culture. Dean points towards the influence of African American Culture on the Dominant Culture. Using Rap music as an example and how this subculture was influenced by cannabis. Using aspects of her installation in the poster that echoed both her concept and physical installation.
